The Westfield Witness – August 2010

August 15th, 2010

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Tranquility

You can have peace in your heart with little if you are in the will of God; but you can be miserable with much if you are out of His will.

You can have joy in obscurity if you are in the will of God, but you can be wretched with wealth and fame out of His will.

You can be happy in the midst of sufferings if you are in God’s will, but you can have agony in good health out of His will.

You can be contented in poverty if you are in the will of God, but you can be wretched in riches out of His will.

You can be calm and at peace in the midst of persecution as long as you are in the will of God, but you can be miserable and defeated in the midst of acclaim if you are out of His Will.

Billy Graham from “Unto the Hills”

Turn to what God has revealed about life in his Word. The easiest way to discover the purpose of an invention is to ask the creator of it. The same is true for discovering your life’s purpose. Ask God.

Life is Hard….But God is Good

HE IS STRONG in our weakness.

HE IS COMFORT when we’re in pain.

HE IS LOVE when we need acceptance.

HE IS PEACE when we’re haunted by fear.

HE IS PROTECTION when we’re in trouble.

HE HEALS OUR WOUNDS when someone or something has hurt us.

HE IS OUR JOY when our hearts are grieved.

HE IS OUR FRIEND when we’ve been rejected.

HE IS OUR POWER when we need a miracle.

Sheri Rose Shepherd from “Fit for Excellence”

Camp Crossfire

Camp is coming!!! Camp is coming!!

Every adult is hard at work to get ready for camp and we want you to come. If you are going into kindergarten to fourth grade your camp is July 30, 31 and Aug. 1. If you are going into fifth grade to eighth, your camp it Aug. 6,7, & 8.

Each camp begins with 11:30 lunch at the Nazarene Church, 1232 Bliss in Grinnell. Then off to camp! We have chapel times, play times, swim times, craft time, eating times and lots of time to be in a rustic setting of nature and be near God.

The price is $15.00 for the weekend, if you don’t have the money, talk to an adult. We try not to turn anyone away. If you have a pool pass to the aquatic center in Grinnell, please bring it. Each camp will go to the center on Saturday for a swim.

Bring the usual camping stuff. Please leave the electronic gadgets home. We’re here to get closer to God. Sunday school and Worship will be held at camp with a pot-luck following.

Go to westfieldwitness.org for more info and registration forms. Hope to see you there!
